JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office spokesman said police are looking for someone responsible for shooting a man found dead inside a vacant apartment in Brentwood.
A passerby, who could see inside an open front door, reported what appeared to be an unresponsive person to police about 10 a.m. on Sunday.
The death was discovered inside an apartment in the 200 block of 27th Street in the Brentwood area in North Jacksonville that had been condemned. The dead man may have been squatting inside the apartment before his death.

Upon arrival, police and the Jacksonville Fire Rescue Department found a black man, 20-30 years of age, lying on the floor. A spokesman said the man “had been shot multiple times.”
Detectives with the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office Homicide Unit and Crime Scene Unit visited the scene and are conducting and investigation.
“At this time, we do not know the circumstances of the incident or the relationship to those involved,” the spokesman said

“We will continue to investigate and coordinate our efforts with our partners at the Medical Examiner’s Office and the State Attorney’s Office.”
