JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a mother was shot at her apartment.
Officers responded to a emergency room facility about a woman who had been shot in the hand at 2:20 a.m. Thursday. Based off of preliminary information, police said it appears a mother and her 17-year-old son were at their apartment on Confederate Point Road, when she was shot by her son, who was handling a gun in another room. The woman is expected to be OK, the Sheriff’s Office said.
“Our Violent Crimes Unit has been notified and will be taking the lead in the investigation and will try to determine what occurred,” JSO said.
Police have not made any arrest at this time.
