ATLANTIC BEACH, Fla. — Update 4:45 p.m.: The Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department said two containers washed up on Atlantic Beach and were picked up by the Navy.
One of the items was a canister that is used as a marine marker to track currents and the other was an empty propellant can.
For those that were asking for a photo of what was located on the beach....

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission said the containers are not connected to a boat that ran ashore near the St. Johns River Inlet.
Original Story: The Atlantic Beach Police Department said it is closing a portion of the beach due to two containers that have washed ashore.
ABPD said in a tweet that the beach is closed between 11th and 12th streets.

Police said they do not know the contents of the containers, or where they came from.
Officials are working with the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department to ensure everyone's safety.
Officers are with one of the containers that was found at 18th Street. A disabled sailboat is currently in this area, but it is not known if that container came from that boat.
Police are asking people to avoid the area during the investigation.

Correction- The beach is closed between 11th and 12th. In addition, there is a law-enforcement presence at 18th St. with the container that was found at that location.
