Putnam County detectives search for gunman who shot, killed 29-year-old

PALATKA, Fla. —

The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting death of a 29-year-old Palatka man.

Officers responded to reports of gunshots Wednesday evening at 154 Lettie Lane in Palatka, where they found Joseph Rigdon injured.

Rigdon was taken to a nearby hospital, but despite lifesaving attempts, he was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The autopsy confirmed Rigdon’s death was from a gunshot wound.

Rigdon was living near the same location officers found him injured.

Currently, there are no suspects, but detectives are continuing to interview neighbors and friends.

No weapon was recovered at the scene.
