JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — On Monday, Bleu Chocolat Café in Springfield is hosting a dinner benefit for Bahamas disaster relief.

"It's a culture dinner." Erika Cline, Owner of Bleu Chocolat Café said. "If we can sell out, the more we can sell out, the better money that we can send to the Bahamas."

Both of the owners have strong ties to the Bahamas. Cline worked there for three years as a chef, teaching aspiring cooks in the community.

Janielle Ford has family in Nassau.

"Born and bred and raised in the Bahamas." Ford told us. "All my family is there Mom, my dad, aunt uncles."

But, they're no stranger to tragedy, and so even though this is devastating, they know it too well.

"For me it really touches home, because I lost everything in Irma two years ago." Kline explained. "And, just watching this brings back so many memories."

After losing their business in the British Virgin Islands during Irma, they came here and have been in business for the last 10 months.

Upon hearing the news about the devastation in the Bahamas, they wanted to help immediately in the only way they know how: through their food.

The café will host a five-course gourmet dinner on Sept. 8 that will help with disaster relief in the Bahamas.
