Restaurant Report: Local Dunkin’ Donuts dunked by inspectors

JACKSONVILLE, Fla — In this week’s Original Restaurant Report, Action News Jax Ben Becker tells us about your favorite places to eat.

Becker paid a visit to the Dunkin Donuts on Mayport road near Fairway Villas Drive.

State inspectors found five live roaches, 12 dead roaches and 60 live flying insects. It was temporarily closed.

“Is everything okay now?,” Becker asked a worker which began a lengthy back and forth.

Worker: I don’t have anything to say.

Becker:  Is everything good?

Worker:  I don’t have anything to say.

Becker Are the roaches gone?

Worker:  I don’t have anything to say.

Becker: Dead roaches?

Worker:  My answer is going to be I don’t have anything to say.

Becker:   Live roaches?

Worker:  It’s going to be I don’t have anything to say.

Becker: How about the insects?

Worker: I don’t have anything to say, sorry.

Elsewhere, China Lee on Beach Boulevard near Interstate 295 was cited for fly sticky tape hanging over containers, raw food not properly separated and an employee engaged in food preparation without gloves.

Inspectors say Newk’s Eatery on Max Leggett Parkway near Interstate 95 had time/temperature safety violations, a dish machine sanitizer not at proper strength and required training was expired for some employees.

Becker’s final stop, The Garage on Post Street near King Street was cited for a time/temperature safety violation, cleaner above sugar on a storage shelf  and dish machine sanitizer not at proper strength.

All the restaurants passed follow up inspections.
