This week, a restaurant in Green Cove Springs was temporarily shut down.
At Ronnie’s Wings Oysters & More, a health inspector counted more than 40 live flies around the restaurant, seven live roaches and seven dead roaches. It was temporarily shut down and reopened after two follow-up inspections.
At Royal Buffet on Normandy Boulevard in Jacksonville, a health inspector noted 30 live flies in the kitchen, two live roaches, and 13 dead roaches. The inspector also issued a-stop sale on two pans of roasted pork and one pan of mixed sushi rolls due to temperature issues.
Action News Jax looked around the restaurant and didn’t see any lingering issues. The manager says the flies were blamed on outside vendors, and they’ve stepped up pest control.
“We have seven-day delivery. So you know, when the delivery comes and the door opens, flies come in. But roaches, this is the first time we had a problem so it's been taken care of," said the manager.
Royal Buffet is still waiting on its required follow-up inspection.
At Sabbia in Fernandina Beach, a health inspector didn’t see any time markings on tabbouleh or the empanadas to be able to tell when they expire, and there was hot food held too cold and cold food held too hot. It met all inspection standards because the high-priority violations were corrected on the spot.
