The City of Jacksonville Beach approved a resolution that requests safety improvements to Penman Road.
The resolution calls for a “complete street” concept to make it more pedestrian and bicyclist friendly by adding crosswalks and bicycle lanes.
Neighbors said the sidewalks are in poor condition and there aren’t enough crosswalks.

Action News Jax counted six crosswalks between Beach and Atlantic Boulevards, which is a 2.5 mile stretch.
The road is owned and maintained by the City of Jacksonville.
The City of Jacksonville Beach requests the COJ begin planning and designing for improvements in 2020.
Cities of Atlantic and Neptune Beaches plan to consider similar resolutions to show unified support.
