The Salvation Army in Jacksonville announced it will be opening a cold night shelter for Thursday Nov. 15 at 900 W. Adams Street.
The shelter will serve a hot dinner at 6:30 p.m. when the shelter opens and breakfast will be served in the morning.
"
The Salvation Army in Jacksonville opens the cold night shelter when overnight lows dip below 42 degrees, providing protection and relief to homeless men, women, and families who might otherwise be out in the elements all night," Heather Corey, a representative for the Salvation Army of Northeast Florida said.
Major Bert Tanner, Area Commander for The Salvation Army of Northeast Florida, commented, “We feel strongly that no one in our community should be left out in the cold. It is essential to our mission of meeting human needs to ensure that our homeless friends are safe and warm when the temperatures fall.”
If you know anyone who needs it, a cold night shelter is opening tonight. This also serves as a good reminder that there are people who need it. Be thankful. Share. @ActionNewsJax https://t.co/Qs7yyE9P0E
