Shands Boat Ramp closed until Friday

CLAY COUNTY, Fla. — The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission has closed the Shands Boat Ramp.

Starting on Thur., Jun. 1, the ramp will be closed until Friday evening, Jun. 2 for official use only during Boater Skip Day.

Clay County Fire Rescue’s Facebook page said that there are multiple state and local agencies involved in Boater Skip Day to make sure everyone has a good time -- safely. They thank everyone for understanding and their patience.

Boater Skip Day, an annual tradition where boaters skip work to spend the day on the water, is scheduled to meet up at 9 a.m. at Marker 24 at Bayard Point. This is just south of the Shands Bridge.
