Social Coverage: El Faro Hearings

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The U.S. Coast Guard begins a new push to find the cause of one of the worst maritime disasters.

Public hearings are underway to find out what caused the containership El Faro to sink.

The cargo ship sank in the Atlantic Ocean near the Bahamas in October. The 33 crew members on board are presumed dead.

The hearings began Tuesday in Jacksonville.
