It will only be the first reading for the proposal.

Action News Jax Courtney Cole talks to neighbors and breaks down which streets in the area could be affected.

Right now, St. Johns County is working with Republic Parking System  to charge for parking at Pier Park and other county-owned roads outside of St. Augustine Beach.

Under the county's tentative plan, people who live in the county could pay $50 for a yearly pass — or $5 a day.

“I've been born and raised here for a little while and I don't agree with the paid parking at all,” Joey Wages told Action News Jax.
