ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. — In addition to city offices being closed, St. Augustine announced that its solid waste collection schedule has been altered for Memorial Day.
In a news release, the City of St. Augustine said that to allow staff to have the holiday off from work, the Solid Waste Division will be closed for the day.
However, limited services will still be completed, such as litter pick up and commercial solid waste and recycling collections. All yard debris and residential solid waste collections will be delayed by one day.
The altered waste collection schedule is as follows:
- Tuesday, May 30 – Monday’s residential garbage collection
- Wednesday, May 31 – Tuesday’s residential garbage collection; No residential yard waste collection
- Thursday, June 1 and Friday, June 2 – Normal Residential Recycling Collection
- Wednesday, June 7 – Residential yard waste collection resumes
Parking in city-owned parking lots and on-street parking is free on all national holidays, including the Memorial Day holiday, except for the Castillo de San Marcos National Monument and the Historic Downtown Parking Facility. Drivers are urged to confirm if a lot is owned by the City of St. Augustine and not a private operator as many of those lots have strict towing policies.
Questions about waste pickup may be directed to Todd Grant, Utilities Director at 904-315-8499 or via email at tgrant@CityStAug.com.
