FWC and SJSO find missing bicyclist deceased in Guana State Park

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. — UPDATE 1:39 p.m.- Mehofer’s body was found within the park. Foul play is not suspected, but the final cause of death is pending the autopsy from the Medical Examiner’s Office.

The St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office and Florida Wildlife Commission are working a joint search operation regarding a 57-year-old Ponte Vedra resident, who did not return from the trails at Guana State Park.

FWC located a vehicle belonging to 57-year-old male by the name Mark Meihofer on Monday evening in the park after normal hours.

An initial search was conducted overnight and a full scale search is now underway.

Meihofer frequently utilizes the bike trails at the park.
