‘Everything she did inspired us’: Family identities pilot killed in St. Augustine plane crash

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. —

The National Transportation Safety Board announced it’s investigating a deadly plane crash in St. Augustine.

The small fixed-wing aircraft crashed just before 5 p.m. Wednesday in the marsh area off the runway of Northeast Florida Regional Airport.

The 49-year-old pilot was killed.

Family and friends identified the victim as Marianne Fox, an Oregan native who had been completing a cross-country trip from her home state when she issued a distress call. The cause

“Marianne delighted in the close company of her innumerable friends and her amazing family, long-time friend Jim Bourke said on Facebook Thursday. “She was adventurous, charming, intelligent, and caring. Her success in everything she did inspired us, whether she was demonstrating her prowess as a business leader, pushing herself during a morning run, or flexing her muscles as an interior decorator. Everything she touched was made better.”

Fox’s family says funeral arrangements are being made near her childhood home in Oregon.



The Florida Highway Patrol has released a report stating a 49-year-old woman flying in a Fixed Wing Aircraft is now in critical condition after the plane crashed into the marsh area near the runway at the St. Augustine airport.

The crash happened just before 5 p.m. on Wednesday at Northeast Florida Regional Airport.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
