St. Johns River Ferry resumes service on May 3rd after maintenance

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The St. Johns River Ferry, a popular mode of transportation for locals and tourists alike, is set to return to service on Wednesday, May 3, following a brief hiatus for scheduled maintenance.

The Jacksonville Transportation Authority (JTA) is welcoming the community to join, where JTA CEO Nathaniel P. Ford Sr., JTA Immediate Past Chair Ari Jolly, and Friends of the Ferry Representative & Former City Councilman Bill Gulliford will be attending to provide remarks.

The St. Johns River Ferry is a car and passenger ferry that connects the north and south ends of Florida State Road A1A, linking Mayport Village and Fort George Island. The trip takes approximately five minutes and departs every half hour.

The ferry has been out of service since January 25, 2023, for scheduled maintenance, as required by the U.S. Coast Guard.

The reopening event will take place at 4680 Ocean Street, Atlantic Beach, FL 32233, from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.
