Seasons 52 cited by health inspectors

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Two of the restaurants on the latest Restaurant Report are located inside two malls.

Seasons 52 at the St. Johns Town Center Mall was cited by a health inspector.

A health inspector noted an employee washing hands without soap, the key lime and pumpkin pies were too warm to serve and employees had to manually wash dishes after discovering that the dish machine wasn’t properly sanitizing items. A follow-up inspection is required for the restaurant.

A health inspector also cited big Easy Cajun at the Orange Park Mall. The eatery was cited for having 30 live roaches under a table on which food was being prepped, dead roaches and encrusted material on a can opener blade. The restaurant was temporarily shut down.

Orange Park Manager John Westbrook sent Action News Jax a statement:

"We are committed to providing a safe and clean environment for our shoppers and mall employees. Although we do not manage the daily operations of these businesses, we do require that they conduct regular pest control services and adhere to accepted food handling guidelines. The food court tenant immediately complied, addressed the situation and is currently open."

The health inspector returned for multiple inspections until Big Easy Cajun was cleared to reopen.

At Jax Royal Buffet, an inspector reported flying insects in the kitchen, issued a stop sale on chicken and crab for temperature violations and saw displayed food not properly protected from contamination. A follow-up inspection is required.
