JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — An 18-year-old Jacksonville man is dead after crashing the motorcycle he was riding into an SUV Monday in North Jacksonville. It happened at about 5:38 p.m. at Heckscher and Milton drives.
The motorcyclist was traveling westbound on Heckscher Drive when he entered the eastbound lane “and passed several vehicles in the no passing zone,” a Florida Highway Patrol news release states.
An SUV, driven by a 54-year-old Bradenton woman, was also traveling west on Heckscher Drive ahead of the motorcyclist. The woman made a left turn on Milton drive and the front of the motorcycle collided with the left rear of the SUV, the news release states.
The motorcyclist, who was wearing a helmet, was pronounced dead at the scene, FHP said. Heckscher Drive was closed in both directions for several hours after the crash.
