Adding to the list of violent crimes is Saturday's drive-by shooting of a teenager near the corner of Doby and Walcott Streets.

Maurice Williams is one neighbor who said the crime in the area is starting to increase.

"I think we think it shouldn't happen, but we need to keep all of the residents informed of what's going on and let them know about dangerous things that have happened," Williams said.

WIliiams grew up in the neighborhood and recently moved back. He said the crime is much worse than he remembers. Neighbors with the Ring doorbell app were alerted of the shooting.

According to the Ring doorbell app, law enforcement reported that 55 other crimes have happened in the area in the past week. Williams said something needs to change.

"That brings a lot of fear to the older people, and that's what we try to help prevent," Williams said.

Police told Action News Jax there were about six or seven people inside the house when Saturday's shooting happened.

Four bullets went through one window in the same area of the home. More than a dozen bullet holes were left in the house, and that was just one area of the house that got shot up.

Other windows and areas of the home were also riddled with bullet holes. Officers said a teen was taken to the hospital by his mother, but JSO is still looking for the shooter.

"That's something that concerns all of us about anyone getting shot but then these young people getting shot for whatever reason, that should've never happened," Williams said.

Neighbors said they plan to contact City Council members and other city leaders to see what they can do to help prevent this type of crime from happening in the future.
