Travelers taken aback by how many crashes seen this holiday season

JACKSONVILLE, Fla — Many travelers were on the road this Christmas Eve, and Action News Jax learned that many were taken aback by how many crashes they have seen during their Christmas travels.

Traveler Sally Robiletto, who was headed from South Florida up to North Carolina for Christmas, said she wasn’t prepared for this.

Portions of I-295 near 9B North are back open Sunday night after, according to FHP, a pickup truck and tractor-trailer collided.

“It does happen, you have to take it as it comes,” Robiletto said.

Action News Jax has covered at least three major crashes since Thursday that caused backups.

Evan Grooms told Action News Jax, “We just came up from Miami and I saw some people broken down, but other than that no wrecks.” Evan Grooms is traveling from Miami to Ohio this holiday season.

According to FHP, the driver of the 18-wheeler has minor injuries, while the driver of the pickup truck doesn’t have any injuries at all.
