WASHINGTON, DC - JANUARY 31: Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) speaks at a press conference on Capitol Hill January 31, 2017 in Washington, DC.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — U.S. Representative Maxine Waters of California was scheduled to be in Jacksonville tonight to campaign for U.S. Senate candidate Angie Nixon.

Earlier in the day, Rep. Waters (D-California) appeared at the University of North Florida for a Day of Action event alongside Nixon, a Democrat facing Republican Ashley Moody for a U.S. Senate seat.

The event Thursday night at Nixon’s Cafe Resistance bookstore and coffee shop was scheduled to feature Waters as host and participant in an in-person campaign and phone-banking event, a Nixon events page said.

The evening event was also to include local artists, poets and the Few Fellas Brass Band to generate support for Nixon’s campaign.

The federal mid-term elections are set for Tuesday.
