Video: Nassau deputies use stun gun on man who tried to run over good Samaritans

NASSAU COUNTY, Fla. — New dashcam video obtained by Action News Jax shows the moment Nassau County deputies used a stun gun on a man after an alleged rampage.

They say Dezi Wainright tried to run over people who had stopped to help him when he was unresponsive in his car Tuesday.

After being stopped along County Road 108, deputies said Wainright wouldn’t listen to commands.

He didn’t want to show his face, but James Bullock told Action News Jax he was one of those people trying to help.

But he said it was clear Wainright wanted nothing to do with him or the others who stopped.

“He just drops it in drive, and out of nowhere, I just caught out of my peripheral the car coming at me,” Bullock said.

“I kind of jumped out of the way, was trying to, and car struck me, like, right here in the side, and my flip-flop foot got caught under the tire, and I just kind of landed right on the side,” he added.

Bullock said he came within inches of being crushed.

He was taken to a hospital for back injuries but will be OK. He knows this could have been so much worse.

“I would still do it again, even though that happened,” Bullock said.

Wainright remained in custody Friday night on a more than $60,000 bond.

He’s facing multiple charges, including DUI and felony counts for leaving a crash with injuries, aggravated assault and battery.
