ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. — A Cuvier's Beaked whale washed ashore in St. Johns County on Tuesday.
It was found between Fort Matanzas and Crescent Beach.
Crews from Marineland and the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office were called to the scene.
They say when they got there, the whale was still alive. It later died at 3:30 p.m.
This is third time in less than two weeks that a whale has beached in St. Johns County.
Back in August, a pygmy whale and her calf were found just south of St. Augustine Beach. Neither survived.
