Woman killed when hit by car near Old Kings Rd.

DUVAL COUNTY, Fla. — A woman was killed Sunday morning when she was hit by a car.

Florida Highway Patrol reports that a 36-year-old man was driving north in his pickup truck on US-1 when he came upon a parked vehicle from another, earlier crash. The driver was unable to avoid collision and front-collided with the 39-year-old pedestrian before side-swiping the left side of the parked vehicle.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.

All northbound lanes of US-1 and New Kings Rd. were initially blocked, and drivers were rerouted onto Old Kings Rd.

The crash has since been cleared.
