Man found guilty in 2019 murder of Jacksonville man who was found dumped on the side of the road

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — John Emory Wilson has been found guilty by a jury of first-degree murder.

He is convicted with the murder of Dylan McCurdy.

Dylan McCurdy was found dead with a gunshot wound to the head on the side of the road on April 1, 2019.

Witnesses were able to help identify Wilson as the suspect and provide information about the vehicle he was driving.

Wilson drove by as officers were at the scene the next day, officers conducted a traffic stop.

Officers were able to arrest him on unrelated charges.

When officers searched the car, they found McCurdy’s blood in several places inside the vehicle.

Witnesses were able to confirm that Wilson shot McCurdy and threw the gun into Sherman’s Creek.

Wilson now faces a mandatory life sentence and will officially be sentenced next month.
