Missing woman's family talks to Action News

None — St. Augustine, Fla.-- Brittany Tavar's family tells Action News this isn't like her to be gone without telling anyone.

There is new information in the search for a local woman who hasn't been seen since early this month. Brittany Tavar disappeared from St. Johns county on July 6th. Now both of her dogs have been found in South Carolina. The person of interest in her disappearance, Joseph Roberts, is on the run after last being seen in Wyoming.

Everyone who knows Tavar hopes to see her smile again soon.  Her brother Andrew talked to Action News by phone. "She's very loving and a good hearted person and is a very generous and thoughtful," said Andrew.

She's been missing now for two weeks. Police are grasping for any clues. They're even searching South Carolina after both Tavar's dogs were found there July 10th. Elliott Williams and his girlfriend Nikki found one of them chasing cars. "I started freaking out. The little dog going through the middle of cars all going 45 mph," said Nikki. "I never though it'd be like this. A dog from Florida. How'd it get up here," said Elliott Williams.

Police believe Joe Roberts knows something about Tavar's disappearance. Roberts was with Tavar at her neighborhood party. That was the last time she was seen. Police also know he was pulled over in Wyoming driving Tavar's car, but she wasn't with him. Her brother says the whole thing just seems out of character. "We're hoping for the best," said her brother.

For now, police, her friends and family and even complete strangers are still searching, hoping for answers. "She's a good person. Her family loves her very much," said her brother Andrew.

Police searched a retention pond and by air around Tavar's house. One of her dog's is in Florida with a family friend. The other remains in South Carolina.

The family is offering a $25,000 reward for any information on her whereabouts. Anyone with information is asked to call police.
