None — NAHUNTA, Ga. -- A 17-year-old Nahunta boy is dead tonight, after a truck he was riding in plowed into the back of a school bus.
It happened around 3:30 p.m. Friday on Highway 82 near Nahunta.
According to Georgia State Patrol, three boys were in a pickup truck driving right behind a Brantley County school bus. The bus made a stop to let students off.
The driver of the truck lost control and plowed straight into the back of the bus. One boy in the truck died. He was 17-year-old Devin Johns. The other two boys were transported to a Waycross hospital with serious injuries but are expected to live.
We caught up with friends of Johns who played baseball with him at Brantley High School. They say the high school junior will be missed.
"I was really just devastated. I didn't really know what to think. It still hadn't hit me all the way. It's hard. It's like a family member really," says friend Lawton Boid.
"He'll definitely be missed. He won't be forgotten though," says friend Will White. Of the 41 passengers on the school bus. Only one was transported to a nearby hospital with back pain. The accident is still under investigation.
