WATCH: Record-setting 17-foot python caught in Everglades

Homstead, Fla. — Just when you thought pythons couldn't grow any larger, a hunter caught one in the Everglades on Friday measuring a whopping 17 feet 1 inch long.

The 132-pound "monster" is the largest Burmese python caught so far under the South Florida Water Management District's (SFWMD) python elimination program, NBC Miami reported.

"That snake could pretty much kill any full-grown man. If that snake was alive right now, it would probably take like three of us to be able to control that snake," python hunter Jason Leon told NBC Miami.

The SFWMD started the python program in April 2017 and pays hunters $8.10 an hour. They also pay an extra $50 for a 4-foot-long snake and $25 for each additional foot above that.

For this snake, the hunters will receive a total of $375.
