Fans of “Jeopardy” are wondering who will replace Alex Trebek after the long-time host died from pancreatic cancer Nov. 8.
Game show experts have a shortlist who could stand behind the “Jeopardy” podium but not necessarily fill the proverbial shoes worn by Trebek for more than 35 years.

People like Ken Jennings, who has the longest winning streak on the show and who is a producer of the game show, Tom Bergeron, former “Dancing with the Stars” and “America’s Funniest Home Videos” host, or sports announcer Alex Faust, could be tapped to host the answer and question show, the “Today” show reported.
But one name that is bubbling up and that may have the support of the show’s fans is former “Star Trek: The Next Generation” alum, “Reading Rainbow” host and “Roots” star, LeVar Burton.
There is a petition to have Burton become the host of “Jeopardy,” The Root reported, and it has more than 56,000 supporters already in less than a week.
Burton has responded to the petition on his Twitter page saying that he appreciates the support, but reminded fans that his thoughts are with Trebek’s family.
Even if nothing comes from it, I can’t tell how much how I appreciate all y’alls love and support! 🙏🏾♥️

Of course while I’m very flattered by the petition, my thoughts are definitely with Alex Trebeck’s family and his millions of fans and the devastating loss of this irreplaceable legend. #LongLiveAlex
