JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A 44-year-old Jacksonville man has been arrested and charged with manslaughter after authorities said he supplied drugs that authorities say caused a fatal overdose.
Sean Coss was arrested following a police search of his home and is being held in the Duval County jail awaiting trial.
The arrest stems from a nine-month investigation by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office Overdose Investigations Unit. Investigators began looking into the case in November after a 61-year-old man died from an overdose, eventually identifying Coss as the suspect who provided the lethal drugs.
Detectives executed a search warrant on Aug. 20 at Coss’ home in the Deerwood area of Jacksonville, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
During the search, investigators seized 28.8 grams of powder cocaine, 19.3 grams of crack cocaine and 875.3 grams of marijuana. Detectives also found four handguns and $1,565 in cash inside the residence.
Following the search, Coss was booked on a charge of manslaughter along with several drug possession charges. “If your drugs lead to someone losing their life, we will hold you accountable for their death,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement released after the arrest.
