A 74-year-old Middleburg man was hit and killed by a car while putting out a yard sale sign on Saturday morning.
Troopers said George Maxwell Point III was placing a sign in the ground on the south side of County Road 218 around 7:10 a.m. when he stepped into oncoming traffic.
Point walked into the eastbound travel lane and was hit by a Toyota Camry, according to Florida Highway Patrol.
The left front of the Camry hit Point, and he died from his injuries.
