JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Update 1:10 p.m.: The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said one worker is in the hospital in life-threatening condition after a boom truck he was inside struck a live power line.
JSO said the person in the truck tried to escape, but was seriously injured by an electric shock.
JSO, JEA and OSHA are on the scene investigating the accident.
Police said Running River Road will be closed until the boom truck is cleared and the area is deemed safe.
Update 12:25 p.m.: According to authorities, an independent subcontractor was working to install traffic light arms off Kernan Boulevard and Running River Road when a crane hit a primary line that had electricity running through it.
One person was hurt and was taken to the hospital. There are roughly 1,100 customers without power. JEA said power will be restored after an investigation is completed.

The accident has caused a power outage that is affecting 1,122 customers, according to JEA's power outage map.
