JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is investigating after several alligators were found skinned with their head cut off, and the carcasses were dumped at a popular boat ramp in Arlington.
Glen Shelton said he's the one who found those carcasses lying at the boat ramp and he called Florida wildlife to investigate.

On Monday just before sunrise Shelton said he went fishing near Arlington boat ramp like he normally does.
"I've fished there for probably about the last 12 or 15 years," Shelton said.
But this week he noticed something unusual, three alligators beheaded and left as a smelly disturbance for everyone to see.
The sight left many who frequent the boat ramp like Shelton upset.
"They actually had just took the backs off of them and they did not mess with any of the meat or anything. And it's also bad when people pull up at a boat ramp and they see carcasses and things like that laying out it just makes them not want to go back there," Shelton said.

Alligator hunting is legal in Florida but there is also a correct way to tag and dispose of the carcasses.
Florida fish and wildlife professionals couldn't confirm if leaving the carcasses there in that position was illegal but they said it is under investigation. And Shelton is hopeful whoever did that will face consequences.
"I think if they find the person who did it he should be charged," Shelton said.
FWC said what happened there is still under investigation they're asking anyone with information concerning this to contact their wild life alert hotline at 888-404-3922.
