St. Augustine children's museum groundbreaking set for 2018

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. — Northeast Florida is set to have its own children's museum in St. Augustine as early as December 2018, the St. Augustine Record reported.

The tag! Children's Museum has been in its planning stages for 10 years and aims to promote cognitive and process skills through hands-on, multi-disciplinary approaches.

The Record reports the museum will be built on the four-acre site that the nonprofit purchased at the St. Augustine Shipyards.

According to the nonprofit's renderings, the first phase of the museum will feature a science and weather gallery, a 'make shop' and several gardens, including butterfly and aquaponics gardens.

A Build-A-Fort station will be one of several stations that integrate the history of St. Augustine.

The museum has been raising funds through a Capital Campaign for construction and exhibit design for its first phase. To learn more about the museum and its plans, visit the tag!'s website.
