Jacksonville man arrested for DUI after crashing into Middleburg church, Clay deputies say

MIDDLEBURG, Fla. — A Jacksonville man is facing DUI charges after deputies say he drove a car into a church in Clay County.

Deputies say 32-year-old William Charles Davis pulled out a knife at the Fresh Spot, a lounge on County Road 220 in Middleburg, on Friday, May 12.

Davis tried to leave in his car when he lost control and crashed into the nearby True Life Church.

He tried to run away but was taken into custody a short time later.

The pastor of the church told Action News Jax the damage is a major inconvenience, but the church will still be able to hold services.

The church sustained an estimated $20,000 in damage.
