JACKSONVILLE, Fla. —
In October, 14-year-old Bradley Cowart was shot multiple times while walking home from school.
It happened around 2 p.m. in the Riverside area. Police believe the shooting was random.
“I see her pull her revolver out of her purse. I just tried to run. I couldn’t, I was wearing dress shoes and she shot me,” Cowart said.
In an interview with Action News Jax, Cowart recounted the experience as he tried to get away.
“I was shocked, like this really happened.” Cowart said.
Cowart was in critical condition and had to undergo surgery. Now he is walking, talking and back in school.
The high school student dreams of joining the military and was shot while wearing his ROTC uniform.
The men and women who serve in the military are his heroes, he said. Saturday, Naval Station Mayport sailors paid Cowart a special visit at his home.
Cowart is planning to join the Navy in the near future.
Police have named 22-year-old Aminah Jackson as a person of interest in the shooting.
