Missing 27-year-old woman found dead in Sandalwood area

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — UPDATE Sept. 29: The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office confirmed that 27-year-old Teresa Gorczyca has been found deceased near a retention pond in the Sandalwood area.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in locating a missing woman last seen Sunday afternoon.

Officers first responded to the 4000 block of Kernan Boulevard South to investigate a report of a missing person.

Teresa Janette Gorczyca, 27, was last seen at her home just before 1 p.m., police said.

“Due to the circumstances involved in her disappearance, we are attempting to locate the victim to ascertain her safety,” JSO said.

Gorczyca is described as 5′3″ tall and weighs 145 pounds. She has brown eyes and brown and red hair.

She was last seen wearing a gray long-sleeved shirt and a flowered sports bra (as seen in the picture on the right shared by JSO).
