Jacksonville Social Justice Committee identifies main goals

DUVAL COUNTY, Fla. — Monday is the first meeting for the Jacksonville City Council committee, since its creation was announced last month.

Action News Jax Courtney Cole joined in on the virtual meeting for the Social Justice and Community Investment Committee.

QUICK FACTS:

There are seven members on the Social Justice and Community Investment Committee.

Councilman Matt Carlucci and Councilwoman Brenda Priestly-Jackson are the co-chairs of the committee.

At the beginning of the meeting, each member was tasked with laying out their three priorities.

Many of the needs centered around neighborhoods and Districts 7, 8, 9 and 10.

There are also four pieces of legislation they are discussing, including: body camera policy, a hit-free zone, and an ordinance to rename Hemming Park.
