Jacksonville testing sites seeing less people

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The number of people using public testing sites in Jacksonville has decreased significantly over the last two months.

In the month of July, people were flocking to local testing sites. On July 8, 2020, the Regency testing site in Arlington tested 1,267 people in one day. The days that followed were similar.

The most recent numbers provided to Action News Jax show the steady decline in people getting a COVID-19 test at the Regency.

The Legends walk-up testing site has also seen a steady decline in foot traffic-- testing under 100 people daily in the last few weeks.

Action News Jax, Meghan Moriarty, spoke with a doctor from Baptist Medical Center who said they are also seeing less people hospitalized from the virus, which is a good sign. But, she adds, we must stay vigilant.
