Mayo Clinic runs program to provide access to plasma, study its efficacy

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Action News Jax Courtney Cole explains what the Mayo Clinic has learned from their study about convalescent plasma and what the FDA’s emergency use authorization means when it comes to patient access.

The Mayo Clinic has run what they call expanded access program.

The objectives of the program were to provide plasma through the U.S. and make sure it’s safe to use.

Mayo Clinic has more than 100,000 patients enrolled, have transfused more than 70,000 patients.
