Teacher arrested in November for sexual contact with former student back in jail

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — UPDATE 1/26/2020:

Christine Dennard bonded out of jail Sunday morning.

She is due in court Monday morning at 9 a.m., according to the Duval County Clerk of Courts.

Christine Dennard, a First Coast High School teacher who was arrested in Nov. for having sexual contact with a former student was arrested for a second time on Friday, Jan. 24. She has been charged with unlawful sexual activity with a minor, and her bond was set at $150,003.

Dennard was originally arrested Nov. 22 and charged with five counts of unlawful sexual activity with a minor.

She had an arraignment date set for Jan. 23 that she was not present for. Action News Jax is working to learn if this new arrest is related to her missed arraignment, or if additional charges are being levied against her as the investigation has progressed.

According to a report from the November arrest, the victim was identified as a 16-year-old girl who told police that she and Dennard were “involved in an intimate relationship.”

The victim also said her and Dennard had sex on and off the campus of First Coast High School (FCHS), according to the report.

The Duval County Public School system is still conducting an internal investigation of Dennard while her charges work through the legal system.

Dennard hasn’t yet been officially fired by Duval County Public Schools, but her classes have been covered by substitute teachers since her November arrest.

She started teaching at FCHS in 2015 and it was the only school in the district where she was employed.
