Family and friends said their final goodbyes to a 14-year-old boy killed just before the new year.

Dozens of people showed up for Jadon Vaughn’s funeral Wednesday in Lake City. The day after Christmas, deputies said Vaughn was visiting friends, 11 - and 13-year-old brothers, at a Lake City home.

According to a police report, deputies said after the boys were play wrestling, the 11-year-old went to his dad’s room, pulled out their gun, removed the magazine, pointed it at Jadon and shot him.

Investigators said no parents were home at the time of the shooting. Deputies said after the shooting, the 11-year-old called his dad and told him that Jadon came at him with a knife.

Investigators said the 11-year-old and his brother admitted placing a kitchen knife in Jadon’s hand after the shooting, believing they would be in less trouble.

“I don’t want to have lost this young life in vain,” said Christopher Hall, the victim’s uncle

Hall is praying not only for comfort in his nephew’s killing, but for justice.

“What I pray for is they get what they deserve, and only God knows what they deserve,” said Hall.
