KINGSLAND, Ga. — A verdict could down Friday for a former Kingsland police officer charged with shooting and killing an unarmed man.

Zechariah Presley is facing manslaughter charges for the death of Tony Green in June 2018.

Action News Jax spoke with Green’s father, Wayne Anderson, who says it’s been a whirlwind of emotions this week having to watch his son's final moments through the lens of a police officer's body camera.

But he says regardless of what the jury decides – their fight for justice will continue.

“This fight still goes on. If we stop now then we really lose but after this we keep going.”

Four the past four days, Green’s family made their way to the Camden County Courthouse waiting and praying for what they hope to be justice served.

Green’s pastor, Mack Knight, says, “It has been a long time coming. It has been 440 something days and this community has been certainly I would say a little divided.”

A jury will be deciding the fate of former Kingsland police officer Zechariah Presley, who is charged with manslaughter for shooting and killing Green in 2018.

It’s a shooting that the defense repeatedly argued was justified through many expert witnesses.

The state replayed the body camera footage for the jury during deliberations that the ones closest to Green believe proves the shooting wasn’t justified.

Knight exclaims, "They wanted to see the last two minutes of the video and I think those last two minutes are very critical and crucial to the case.”

But Green’s family tells me despite what happens tomorrow, they won’t give up.

“There’s another Tony Green out there, and they’re going to be looking to us for help so we just got to keep going.”

Anderson adds whatever the outcome, he just hopes their community that was once so close can once again come together and move forward.

“We all are Camden County and hopefully at the end we will get through this the county will come together, will be able to talk about differences, but we will be able to be at peace.”
