Fire at mixed-use building on 3rd Street in Jacksonville Beach leaves six people without homes

Jacksonville fire officials said there were no injuries in the blaze that occurred in the community’s commercial district

Fire at Jacksonville Beach displaces six people but no one was injured, fire officials said.

JACKSONVILLE BEACH, Fla. — A fire at a mixed-use building on 3rd Street in Jacksonville Beach on Sunday injured no one, but left six people displaced, fire officials said.

The fire occurred in a building housing Black Label Tattoo, a smoke shop, and several residences. It broke out in the late afternoon, causing black smoke to rise high into the sky.

The American Red Cross is assisting six residents of the building who were displaced, said a spokeswoman for the Jacksonville Fire Rescue Department.

No injuries were reported as the fire was brought under control a short time after firefighters arrived.
