Graffiti found on Overland Bridge project

Action News Jax found graffiti on the Overland Bridge project.

After years of construction, the Overland Bridge project is starting to open up to drivers.

But parts of the expressway are already being hit with graffiti by vandals.

"I do love art, but I hate defacing of other people's property," said driver Chris Lavan.

Someone tagged a portion of the massive Overland Bridge project, which comes with a multi-million dollar price tag. Action News Jax first noticed the spray paint over the weekend.

Tourists like Michael Rogers said it's not a good look for Jacksonville.

"I'm looking for good things in the city," Rogers said.

One tag says "ems" and we can't make out the other. We called the Florida Department of Transportation, who's overseeing the project. We’re told they're investigating.

If the graffiti was done on an old phase, FDOT would be responsible for it. If it's on a newer flyover portion, which it appears to be, the contractor would be responsible for cleanup. Most likely, that means painting over it.

Rogers has a message to the person or people responsible:

"Find some work, get a job. Do something else."
