Graffiti with offensive language painted on wall at Mandarin Middle School

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — For three days students at Mandarin Middle School saw graffiti with very offensive language spray painted on a school wall.

A parent sent Action News a photo of the graffiti. It’s too offensive to show unedited. We can tell you it shows a man’s private part and the word “kill,” followed by the n-word.

A spokesperson for Duval County Public Schools said administrators noticed it Monday morning, leaving them to think that it happened over the weekend.

But it wasn’t until Wednesday that cleaning crews show up to remove it. In the meantime, administrators were using tape to cover it up.

Action News spoke to parents who were disappointed when we showed them the photo.

“Yea that's unacceptable that's absolutely unacceptable. That's um … I don't even know how to react to it. It's sad,” said Kari Wedner, a parent.

A DCPS spokesperson says the school contacted the operations department on Monday to clean up the graffiti, but because that department handles the requests of all 180 schools in the district, it could take a while.
