This week three Jacksonville-area restaurants were temporarily shut down for pest control issues.

Hamburger Mary's is widely known for its entertainment, but a health inspector was recently forced to shut down the kitchen after finding several high priority violations.

The inspector said 12 live roaches, 16 dead roaches and 25 live flies were found in the kitchen. A stop sale was issued on seven items, including deli meats and burgers because of temperature issues.

Hamburger Mary's kitchen was allowed to reopen after a follow-up inspection.

At Dick's Wings & Grill on Blanding Blvd., a health inspector noted 11 live roaches, 40 dead roaches, and four cold items including chicken and beef that were being held too warm. It was temporarily shut down, but allowed to reopen after a follow up inspection.

At China Café in Middleburg, an inspector found 8 live roaches, 8 dead roaches, and noticed a bottle of chemical cleaner on the kitchen prep table which could contaminate food surfaces. China Café was temporarily shut down and met inspection standards during the follow up inspection.
