Jacksonville Fire Rescue breaks ground on new fire station to address growing needs

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — In response to the growing demand for rescue services, the City of Jacksonville has announced the construction of a new fire station. Mayor Lenny Curry, joined by representatives from the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department (JFRD), took part in a groundbreaking ceremony at the future site of Fire Station 22 located at 6575 Lenox Ave.

“I say this every time, but it still rings true: we have the best Fire Department in the business,” stated Mayor Curry. “I am proud to stand behind them and invest in making our neighborhoods safer. As I round out my term as Mayor, I am incredibly grateful for the leadership and dedication of Chief Powers and the sacrifice and commitment of every man and woman who wears that uniform.”
