JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp unveiled a variety of new staff members, including a new manager, pitching coach, and hitting coach.

David Carpenter is the new manager. According to a news release, he has an extensive background as a baseball player, coach, and manager. Carpenter spent the last two seasons with the West Virginia Black Bears in the MLB Draft League. With the Black Bears, he posted an 81-66 (.551) record, taking West Virginia to a league championship in 2023.

Jorge Hernandez was selected as the new bench coach. He has a career history coaching and managing the Miami Marlins.

Rob Marcello is the pitching coach. He has a history of pitching in the game and coaching the players that pitch. Marcello has coached the Modesto Nuts, Tacoma Rainiers, and San Diego Padres.

Mike Marjama was hired as the hitting coach. He spent a season as the hitting coach for the Beloit Sky Carp in 2024.

Rounding out the staff, Tyler Lough is the athletic trainer, Dan Donohue is the strength and conditioning coach, and Jose Ceballos is returning as the defensive coach.

The Jumbo Shrimp begin the 2025 season on Mar. 28 at the Nashville Sounds.
