Jacksonville man who made beer run with gator in hand sentenced

MORE LOCAL NEWS: Florida man bitten after jumping into pit at St. Augustine Alligator Farm

The Jacksonville man accused of doing a beer run with a live alligator in his hands has been sentenced by a judge.

Timothy Robert Barr, also known as Robby Stratton, entered a no contest plea to cruelty to animals and fish and wildlife conservation violation charges stemming from the July incident.

Video posted to Facebook shows a man holding an alligator while he goes into a Jacksonville convenience store for beer.

You can hear the man say, "Y'all got beer still? Y'all ain't out, are y'all?"

The video shows him chase another person inside the store while people laugh in the background.

In the video, the man said the alligator he was holding was alive.

A second video appeared to show Barr and others passing the animal around. At one point, another man appears to step on the gator, then grab it by its neck and hold it in the air.

He then shouts, "Florida State, baby! Florida State, baby! Florida State, baby!"

Florida wildlife officials said they were informed about the incident through a tip via their wildlife alert number.

A judge sentenced Barr to two days in jail with credit for time served. He's also required to do 20 hours of community service and make a $100 donation to wildlife, according to court records.
